Docs and Reality TV is now streaming the podcast Superstar Status With Schatar featuring this archival interview with Richard Branson from Off The Record. Richard Branson is the founder of Virgin Group Ltd, a British multinational venture capital conglomerate.
Branson was struggling with dyslexia in his teenage years, and had encountered educational problems due to his condition. Branson dropped out of school at the age of 16 to start a youth-culture magazine called Student. The publication launched in 1966 and sold $8,000 worth of advertising in its first edition.
He launched Virgin Records in early 70s initially as a mail-order records store, and it became a successful venture that Branson was able to build his own recording studio in 1972.
Branson is known for his adventurous spirit and sporting achievements, including crossing oceans in a hot air balloon. His personality reflected in his business ventures; since owning a records store, Branson expanded his ventures to many other sectors like travel luxuries, including Virgin Airlines, Virgin Galactic (space tourism), and Virgin Balloon Flights (hot air balloons).
Forbes lists his net worth an estimated US$4.1 billion as of June 2020.
